Award-winning Hollywood actresses Vera Farmiga and Taissa Farmiga, known for their works in Higher Ground (2011), At Middleton (2013), and the Conjuring Universe, come from a large family.

In total, the Farmiga family consists of three brothers and four sisters: Victor, Stephan, and Alexander Farmiga, as well as Vera, Nadia, Taissa, and Laryssa Farmiga.

Laryssa Farmiga is the second-youngest sibling of the Farmiga family. She was born sometime in the early 90s, between 1991 and 1993, making her in her early 30s as of 2025.

Her parents, Mykhailo and Lubomyra “Luba” Farmiga (née Spas), immigrated to the United States from Ukraine. Mykhailo worked as a computer systems analyst before transitioning to landscaping, while Luba worked as a schoolteacher.

The Farmiga family is proud of their Ukrainian heritage and culture. Mykhailo and Luba taught all six of their children the Ukrainian language before starting school. They also actively participated in Ukrainian folk dancing and cultural events.

On their Flemington property, Laryssa and her siblings were given a farm animal to take care of. “Each child got to choose a pet, and mine was a sheep,” Vera once shared in a 2009 interview with Inside Jersey, stating that she bottle-fed it and let it run around in their yard.

Laryssa Farmiga was born with a congenital condition known as spina bifida. It occurs when a baby’s spinal cord doesn’t develop properly in the womb, resulting in gaps in the spine.

The severity of Laryssa’s condition isn’t shared with the public, so we don’t know how much it impacts her daily life.

However, those who share the same condition experience muscle weakness, paralysis, or loss of sensation in the lower limbs, which can affect their ability to walk. Some also develop orthopedic (musculoskeletal) deformities like scoliosis, dislocated or deformed joints, and club feet.
